Six Nebraska Wesleyan University alumni were honored recently for their impact on the world and on their alma mater.

The honorees were recognized during the University’s annual Legends and Legacies Alumni Association Award Dinner, held September 23.

Award recipients were selected by the Alumni Association’s Recognition Committee.

This year’s honorees are:

Nebraska Wesleyan University crowned Sarah Hotovy of York and Collin Shepherd of North Platte as its 2011 homecoming queen and king.

The college seniors were recognized during ceremonies held at the university’s annual homecoming weekend, September 22-25.

A long-time Nebraska Wesleyan University French professor has died. Professor Emeritus Anthony Epp died Monday, June 6. He was 69.

Nebraska Wesleyan University has recognized six of its graduates with alumni awards. The honors were bestowed at the university’s annual Legends and Legacies Award Dinner on October 22.

Political science professor Kelly Eaton is passionate about experiential learning. So it’s fitting that the new position she’ll begin this summer will focus on transforming Nebraska Wesleyan students.

Beginning July 1, Eaton will be the assistant provost for experiential learning.

Nebraska Wesleyan University Senior Alex Bednar grew up eating Czech food and celebrating his Czech heritage. Starting next fall, he’ll be immersed in the culture he’s so interested in thanks to a Fulbright Scholarship that will send him to the Czech Republic.

Wolfe — a NWU alumna — is an associate professor of English and has taught at Nebraska Wesleyan since 2000.

A Nebraska Wesleyan University forensic science professor has been deployed to Haiti where she will spend two weeks working in a mobile morgue.

“We train for this,” said Melissa Connor, professor and director of Nebraska Wesleyan’s Forensic Science Program. “These are the situations you deal with when you work in the forensic science field.”

Fifteen student members of Nebraska Wesleyan’s Global Service Learning organization traveled to Rosebud Indian Reservation during their recent winter break hoping to help its residents clean, sort, and organize a thrift store.
