Nebraska Wesleyan University will honor outstanding alumni as part of its Legends & Legacies banquet on October 3 at 6 p.m. at the Country Club of Lincoln during homecoming weekend.

Music Alumni Recognized During Homecoming Festivities

Three Nebraska Wesleyan University music alumni are being recognized for their career accomplishments.

Emily Bruflat (’10) has received the Outstanding Young Music Alum and Liana K. Sandin (’81) and Ray Young (’49) have received Outstanding Music Alum awards. The alumni were honored during homecoming activities September 27-October 1.

Decorated Military Veteran to be Honored with New Act of Valor Award

No one in the university’s 130-year history represents courage and sacrifice quite like the late Professor of Philosophy John Rosentrater. The late Professor of History David Mickey (’39) called him “one of those giants who, from time to time, walks upon the earth.”

NWU Remembers Judge Warren Urbom

Judge Warren K. Urbom died on July 28, 2017. Nebraska Wesleyan University meant a lot to Warren Urbom, and Warren Urbom meant a lot to Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Six Alumni Honored at Annual Legends and Legacies Event

One of the highlights of homecoming at NWU  is the annual Legends and Legacies banquet where NWU pays special tribute to outstanding alumni for life and career accomplishments.

This year's honorees are:

Jack Plummer (’58), Medal of Honor

Dr. Jack Plummer has always asked large questions. What motivates us? What influences our behavior? Nebraska Wesleyan was “a perfect fit for me to challenge my curiosities.”

Trumpeter Extraordinaire Bijon Watson to Perform at NWU

Bijon Watson, the lead trumpet for the Grammy-nominated Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, will perform at Nebraska Wesleyan University on Sunday, September 25.

Watson’s performance is part of the annual homecoming Pops Concert with Nebraska Wesleyan’s Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble. The free concert begins at 5:30 p.m. in O’Donnell Auditorium, 50th Street and Huntington Ave.

Students, Alumni Selected for Prestigious Japanese Exchange and Teaching Program

Three Nebraska Wesleyan University students and two alumni have been accepted into the Japanese Exchange and Teaching Program.

Seniors Laura Bruening and Edson deOliveira, both of Omaha, and Ophelia Morreale of San Leandro, Calif., will spend the next year teaching in Japan. They will be joined by Rachel Boellstorff, a 2013 graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan and native of Homer, Neb., and Jordan Klasek of Lincoln, a 2010 graduate.
