New Pathways Scholarship Supports SCC Students

Nebraska Wesleyan University is partnering with Southeast Community College to open more doors to bachelor’s degree completion.

On Tuesday, October 10, Nebraska Wesleyan University President Fred Ohles and Southeast Community College President Paul Illich signed a formal agreement for the NWU Pathways Scholarship Program.

NWU Celebrates New Corporate Partnerships

Twenty-two companies, hospitals and medical clinics have joined Nebraska Wesleyan University as corporate partners.

The university's corporate partnership program provides employees with discounted tuition in Nebraska Wesleyan's adult and graduate programs. Undergraduate completion choices include business, organizational leadership and communication, social work, criminal justice and nursing (RN to BSN). Certificates are also available in project management.

Thompson Named MBA Program Director

Tami Thompson, assistant professor of business, has been named the new program director for Nebraska Wesleyan University’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program.

Thompson has taught at NWU since 2003 when she started as an adjunct instructor in the undergraduate business program for adults. She has taught in the MBA Program since its start in 2014, and most recently served as the Business Program Director for the university’s adult undergraduate programs.

Tuition Discount Available to CHI Health Employees

Beginning this fall, Nebraska Wesleyan University will offer discounted tuition to CHI Health employees who enroll in RN to BSN or MSN and MSN/MBA classes.

NWU Adult and Graduate programs offer working adults accelerated programs in Lincoln, Omaha and Council Bluffs, Iowa. All CHI Health-affiliated nurses receive a tuition discount of $15 per credit hour. Tuition rates with the discount are:

  • RN to BSN — $285
  • MSN and MSN/MBA — $385

Academic Honors List Announced

Nebraska Wesleyan University has announced its academic honors list for students enrolled in the adult program for the fall semester of the 2014-2015 academic year.

Nebraska Wesleyan’s adult program provides nontraditional students the opportunity to earn a college degree while pursuing a career.

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.75 on a 4.00 scale.

Building Resilience: NWU Grad Reflects on her Role in Treating Ebola Patients

Last September the country’s attention turned to Omaha, Nebraska, when the University of Nebraska Medical Center was asked to care for an American doctor who tested positive for the Ebola virus. It was one of a handful of medical facilities in the country designated to treat Ebola patients.

And behind the scenes was Michelle Schwedhelm, director of the Biocontainment Patient Care Unit located inside The Nebraska Medical Center. After years of training for possible Ebola treatment, the situation was real and Schwedhelm was responsible for making sure all plans worked.

Academic Honors List Announced for NWU Advantage Program

Nebraska Wesleyan University has announced its Advantage Program academic honors list for the fall semester of the 2014-2015 academic year. 

The Advantage Program provides nontraditional students the opportunity to earn a college degree while pursuing a career. 

Advantage Program students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.75 on a 4.00 scale to be named to the Academic Honors List.

New Omaha Location Accommodates Growing Programs, Opportunities
