CSIT has received numerous reports within the past hour of a new phishing scam targeting NWU mailboxes. The volume of reports indicates that this is an extremely wide spread attack and that it has been structured to evade our email filters.

CSIT has received reports of a phishing scam reaching NWU Inboxes.  The message, while not particularly convincing, is sufficiently wide spread to warrant an alert.

Senate passes bill to revoke FCC "net neutrality" rules

On Wednesday (5/16), the US Senate passed legislation which would revoke recent FCC rules changing net neutrality policies.  The vote, however, is unlikely to have anything more than symbolic value.

SECURITY ALERT: Twitter recommending all their users to change password

Twitter has today announced the discovery of a bug in their social media platform which is compelling them to recommend that all their users change their Twitter passwords.

Brief unplanned Internet service interruption (Thursday, 5/3)

Many of you will have noted that there was an interruption of Internet service this morning at about 11:10am.  The interruption was caused when the campus firewall shutdown due to the failure of a UPS to which it was connected.
