Objective: The Summer Speed Series is an 8 week, once a week, athletic development program designed specifically for middle school athletes of all sports. Each 45–60 minute session consists of the following:
- 8–12 min dynamic warm-up
- 12–15 min acceleration & mechanics
- 12–15 min max velocity work
- 10–12 min plyos / med-ball / basic strength
- 5 min Cool down and debrief
Athletes will build speed, confidence, and movement skills while learning how to train the right way in a fun and safe environment. Sessions are held every Wednesday afternoon with grade-specific time slots, capped at 10–15 athletes to ensure quality coaching. The cost is $25 per session (total of $200 for all 8 sessions), led by Derrick McKenzie who is the Director of XC / Track & Field at Nebraska Wesleyan.
8 Session Importance: Athletes will see the greatest improvement by attending all 8 sessions. Each week builds progressively on the previous one. Speed development is cumulative!
Eligibility: Any athlete of any sport entering the grades 6-8.
Cost: $25 per session
Location: Nebraska Wesleyan Athletic Facilities – Knight Field House / Abel Stadium (53rd & Huntington)
Refund Policy: Due to limited space and small group sizes, all registrations are final and no refunds will be issued.
