The Basic Facts

NWU Residency Policy

Be sure to read the NWU Residency Policy for rules and exceptions.

Greek Housing

All Greek chapters determine who will live in the chapter house for the upcoming academic year. Lists are provided to the Residential Education Office. Any student on a Greek chapter housing roster is not allowed to sign up for housing in residential facilities. Please check with your chapter regarding specific policies. Please note that not all Greek chapter houses support break housing for their residents. Residential Education does not provide temporary housing to students over breaks during the academic year. We encourage you to visit with your chapter about your break housing options.

Grade Classification

For housing purposes, class standing is measured by the number of completed semesters during college, not credits. Students that have 1-2 semesters completed are considered “sophomores”, students with 3-4 semesters completed are considered “juniors” and “seniors” are those students that have completed at least 5-6 semesters.

Available Housing Options

Johnson Hall “Super Singles” (female, limited)
Centennial Hall Singles (limited)

To be juniors:

The Process

Returner’s Rights

Returner’s rights will be offered to residents who currently reside in Townhouse Village and Apartments and wish to live in the same room/unit next year. To claim the returner’s rights, all the current roommates that currently live in the space must be returning to the same unit/apartment for Fall 2024 (unless a student is graduating, studying away, or student teaching). If not all roommates are returning (for only one of the reasons listed above), the returning members must “pull up” a new roommate to make a full unit for the fall. All students wanting to claim Returner’s Rights must email Lois Schroeder (lrs [at] nebrwesleyan.edu (lrs[at]nebrwesleyan[dot]edu)) and complete the online housing contract no later than 5pm on Monday, March 11, 2024. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact the Residential Education Office.

Housing Lottery and Selection

  • February 26-March 11: All students planning to sign up for housing in the Suites, Townhouses, Apartments, Centennial, or Johnson MUST COMPLETE A HOUSING REQUEST ONLINE FORM by 5 p.m. on March 11. Students will be assigned a randomized lottery number via the online system once they have submitted their form. All roommates should complete their own housing preference form and receive their own lottery number.
  • Following March 11, the Residential Education staff will group housing preference cards by roommate pairings/groups. Residential Education will use the “best” lottery number of the pair/group in placement.
  • During April 4-5, each student who participated in the housing lottery will receive an email telling them where they have been placed for the 2024-2025 academic year. This email will also include a link for the housing contract that needs to be completed by each student no later than 5pm on Friday, April 19, 2024.
  • Students wanting to be placed on a waiting list may do so after they have selected housing and completed their housing contract for the 2024-2025 academic year. The student’s lottery number will be considered in determining the order in which students on the waiting list are placed.
  • Any students wishing to apply for a housing accommodation due to ADA considerations must complete this through Sandra McBride by March 11. After that date, Residential Education will be more limited in the accommodations they can provide/meet.
