Status

Nebraska Wesleyan University is seeking an experienced Title IX Coordinator who administers the university’s Title IX functions and federal compliance requirements while serving as an organizational leader. This position will advise university leadership, supervisors, employees and students on the institution’s response to reports and complaints involving gender discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual violence, and related forms of misconduct affecting students and employees in the academic and work environment. 

The successful incumbent will oversee Title IX reports, complaints, informal resolutions, legal and confidential issues. As part of that role, the incumbent will complete data analysis and reporting on department topics, provide training opportunities, and be involved in various committees. A secondary duty is to work in coordination with the NWU security director as a Clery Compliance Officer for the organization.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and direction for the University’s efforts to ensure compliance with institutional policies and applicable state and federal laws addressing sex discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual misconduct.

* Oversee the institution’s response to reports and complaints involving gender discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual violence, and related forms of misconduct affecting students and employees in the academic and work environment.

* Responsible for oversight of the assessment, investigation, and resolution of all reports of sexual harassment or sexual misconduct.

* Manage the intake, review, investigation, and resolution of reports and complaints in collaboration with other institutional partners.

* Lead campus-wide training and prevention education efforts for students and employees and support ongoing compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.

* Responsible for acting as a campus Clery Compliance Administrator 

* Receive reports of crime happening on or around campus or on property owned and controlled by the University for educational purposes.

* Assist with writing, reviewing, and distributing the Annual Security Report on or before October 1st each year as well as any other time of the year when there is a significant change.

* Review list of Campus Security Authorities and send notification of responsibilities each semester, as well as track annual training.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* A bachelor’s degree in student affairs, human resources, social work, crisis intervention, counseling, or a related discipline is required, master’s degree preferred. Equivalent and relevant job experience may be considered in place of degree.   

* One to three years of direct Title IX experience preferred. 

* Title IX investigator training or certification preferred.

* Must have a working understanding of the guidelines, laws, policies and rules associated with federal and state Title IX regulations.

* Must be able to work independently and be able to make independent decisions and judgments that conform to the policies of the university.

* Must be able to communicate new information and explain detailed information to a variety of constituents including employees, students, and community members using all forms of communication including interpersonal, written, and oral.

* Must have good analytical skills, conflict management, leadership, project management, technical, and organizational skills.

* Must have the ability to do research and ability to think analytically.

* Must be adaptable, flexible, and innovative.

* Must be able to prioritize tasks and meet scheduled deadlines.

* Must have high emotional intelligence to be able to react and adjust to various conversations with people.

* Must have strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills to be able to handle difficult conversations.
