Employment Opportunity for the Position of Administrative Computing Support Specialist
Nebraska Wesleyan University (NWU) is seeking a new Administrative Computing Support Specialist who will be the primary staff supporting the management, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise-level applications, including the Ellucian Colleague ERP system. This position also administers several ancillary systems including Colleague Self Service and Entrinsik Informer and oversees security for these systems. This full-time regular position reports to the Director of Administrative Systems.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Administer Colleague and other enterprise applications and databases.
- Perform software modifications and execute system processes.
- Manage user and system security requirements.
- Review and apply patches and updates.
- Configure systems and maintain data extracts and technical integrations with supplementary systems.
- In addition to technical oversight, the System Specialist will collaborate with operational teams across the College to:
- Troubleshoot and resolve reported issues.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Develop and implement technology-based solutions.
- Define and promote best practices for aligning business processes with available technologies.
Other Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain enterprise application systems, including but not limited to the suite of Ellucian products: Colleague, Self-Service, Ethos.
- Evaluate, implement, and maintain data and application integration between Colleague and supplementary systems.
- Manage user security for Colleague and other enterprise application systems, including designing, documenting, and granting security roles and permissions.
- Respond to and maintain assigned service requests in the support ticketing system.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and best practice guidelines.
- Collaborate with end users to analyze, document, and resolve functional and operational challenges.
- Perform system maintenance activities, including backups and system clones.
- Review, evaluate, and support the implementation of software patches and updates in a timely manner.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience with SQL Server (2022 or later versions).
- Experience with Windows server.
- Experience managing servers in a VMware/vSphere environment.
- Must be able to multitask and manage projects that may be ongoing during the same time.
- Demonstrated ability to design, architect, and implement complicated technical services and solutions.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, time management, and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Possess good interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong oral and written communication skills. Experience with technical documentation is a plus.
- Demonstrate good organizational skills, be detail oriented, and be adaptable and flexible.
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain and be responsible for confidential information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Programming, Computer Technology, Mathematics, Science, Business, Psychology, Statistics, or a related field of study.
- Two (2) years of work experience in Computer Programming/Analysis, Database Administration.
- Experience in database administration, use of programming, and database tools in an MS SQL environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with administration and performing software upgrades/patches to an Enterprise Resource Platform used in higher education.
- Experience with Ellucian products to include but not limited to Colleague, Self-Service, Ethos, Ellucian’s Colleague Studio, and programming in Envision.
