Plainsman Hall

Plainsman Hall is an air-conditioned, coeducational facility located near the Elder Memorial Speech and Theatre Center and the Weary Center for Health and Fitness. It offers built-in desks and shelves, maximizing room space. A basement lounge has a small kitchen, study rooms with marker boards, a pool table, ping-pong table and a TV/social lounge. Plainsman Hall houses first-year residents and is generally coeducational by floor.

Restroom and Shower Information

Plainsman Hall has communal bathrooms and showers on every floor. There are two, single-person, all-gender restrooms (no shower) in the basement lounge area. Nebraska Wesleyan University encourages students, staff, faculty and guests to use the restroom that matches their gender identity.

Room Furnishings

Rooms are furnished with the basics including blinds, loftable bed, extra-long, twin mattresses with fire and bedbug resistant lining, closet, desk chairs, built-in desks and drawers. Mattresses are the standard 36” inch wide and are over 80” in length. Plainsman Hall residents may rent MicroChill units directly through College Products. Plainsman Hall does not have carpeting provided in student rooms.

ADA Accessibility

The first floor of Plainsman Hall is currently accessible by wheelchair through the east entrance. Plainsman Hall does not have any resident rooms designated as ADA-compliant at this time.

Emergency Meeting Locations

Anytime the fire alarm sounds, students are required to swiftly and safely exit their building. Plainsman Hall residents should meet in the grassy area on the south side of Burt Hall. In the event of a tornado warning, residents are required to swiftly and safely move to shelter in the basement stairwells, lounge or hallways.
