Lambda Pi Eta/ WCA Lecture: Damion Waymer

Location: Callen Conference Center

Lambda Pi Eta acadmeic honorary and the Wesleyan Communication Association will bring to campus speaker Damion Waymer, professor and chair of liberal studies at North Carolina A&T State University. Waymer's programs explore organizational discourse particularly regarding public relations, issues management, branding and strategic communication. His research addresses fundamental concerns regarding issues of power, race, class and gender. 

His lecture is free and open to the public. Callen Conference Center is located on the lower level of the Smith-Curtis Administration Building.

International Film Series: "Guten Tag, Ramon"

Location: Olin B Lecture Hall

The spring International Film Series continues with the Mexican/German drama, "Guten Tag, Ramon."

A beloved box office hit in Mexico, BUEN DÍA, RAMÓN (GOOD DAY, RAMON) tells the heartwarming story of a young man from a small Mexican town who travels to Germany to find work to support his family and becomes stranded without shelter or money. He struggles to survive on the streets until he meets Ruth, a lonely senior citizen with whom he develops an astonishing and touching friendship that transcends borders and prejudices.

This film is 120 minutes and is rated PG-13. It is free and open to the public.

Clifford Fawl Psychology Lecture featuring Joyce P. Chu
Time: 4:30pm
Location: Olin B Lecture Hall

Joyce P. Chur, associate professor of psychology at Palo Alto University, will deliver this year's Clifford Fawl Lecture. 

Chu's work is focused around depression and suicide in ethnic minority adult and geriatric populations, particularly in Asian Americans. Her work is community-collaborative and aims to understand barriers to service use and develop culturally congruent outreach and service options for Asian Americans and other underserved communities.

In 2012, Chu received the APA Division 12 Samuel M. Turner Early Career Award for Distinguished Contributions to Diversity in Clinical Psychology. In 2013, she was awarded the AAPA Early Career Award from the Asian American Psychological Association (AAPA).

The annual Clifford Fawl Lecture brings in nationally-recognized speakers in the area of psychology.
