Dr. Melissa Hamilton Hayes is the Director of the Cooper Center, which is the Academic Resource Center at Nebraska Wesleyan. She trains and supervises all of the peer consultants in the Cooper Center and helps coordinate the Cooper Tutors. She also works as an embedded writing consultant with Adult and Graduate students in a variety of fields, from Nursing and Business to Social Work and Organizational Communication. Dr. Hayes has specialties in 20th century American Literature and Rhetoric and Composition, with an interest in women writers, spirituality, and memoir. She teaches in both the Traditional Undergraduate and Adult Education programs. As a certified yoga instructor, she also teaches Yoga I for the Health and Human Performance Department. When she is not on campus, she loves kayaking, hiking, sewing, reading, hanging out with her kids, and walking with her rescue dog, Penny
