Since 2007, the Harry (’59) and Reba Huge Foundation has offered select Nebraska Wesleyan students scholarships to pursue their dream of earning a degree in their field of choice. Every student who receives a Huge-NWU Scholarship becomes part of the Huge Society.
Nebraska Wesleyan University’s Chapter of the Huge Society prepares future leaders with an appreciation for cultural diversity across national borders, through active stewardship and community building.
Fall Huge Society Induction Banquet
A former Huge Scholar serves as guest speaker connecting their career and service accomplishments, Nebraska Wesleyan education, and Huge Foundation support.
Spring Estonian Independence Day Celebration (February 24)
Harry Huge played an integral part in securing Estonia’s independence from the Soviets. Today, NWU enjoys a sister-school relationship with the University of Tartu. Huge Society and NWU mark Independence Day with a cake as well as faculty and student speakers who have studied in Estonia or been involved in Estonia-related projects. Estonians studying at NWU are also invited to attend.
Huge Society plans and completes an annual service project that reflects the mission of the organization. Service projects take place over the course of a day, a few months, or even a semester. Projects must include a written plan, an evaluation form completed by other members of the group and a final report prepared by the Huge Society secretary. The report includes details of the project, outcomes, what students learned from the experience, and how they contributed to the community.
Huge Society elects officers in April for one-year terms beginning the following academic year. The president-elect assumes the presidency upon completion of the president’s one-year term.
Officers include a president, secretary, service coordinator and staff/faculty advisor.
