Nebraska Wesleyan has hired Richard and Jan Potter as faculty and co-coordinators of the university’s new Omaha social work program for adults.
The Potters come with extensive experience in social work practice, and teaching and chairing the social work program at Dana College. Richard taught at Dana College for 26 years where he directed the practicum program, taught core social work courses, and developed a criminal justice major. He is an active member of the Nebraska Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and served on the board of directors of the NASW, serving as president for two separate terms.
For 30 years, Jan taught and developed a wide variety of social work courses at Dana College. She has served on numerous community agency boards and the NASW, serving as president for one term. After serving as an accreditation site visitor for the Council on Social Work Education, she was appointed to its Commission of Accreditation and assisted new social work programs throughout the country in developing accredited programs.
Nebraska Wesleyan’s new Bachelor of Science in Social Work degree program offers one night a week classes and flexible eight and five week sessions. Classes begin in January or March.
