Senior art student Tim Brawner of Omaha was selected for the Nebraska National Collegiate Juried Art Exhibition, which featured the work of the best undergraduate student artists from across the country.
The 2013 exhibition was held on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus this fall and was juried by JoAnne Carson and Todd Slaughter.
Brawner works mostly with oil painting and pen, ink, and charcoal drawing.
Brawner returned to NWU this fall after spending part of his summer in Connecticut where he was one of 26 student artists in the nation selected for the Yale Summer Art Program. Students accepted to the program are considered to be among the strongest artists in their current state of development, and show the greatest curiosity about the history and making of art. While at Yale, Brawner took courses in painting, printmaking, digital photography, and drawing, and spent time in workshops and lectures.
Brawner credits his artistic development to his education at Nebraska Wesleyan.
“Nebraska Wesleyan really is a hidden gem in the Midwest for studying art,” he said. “I’ve received attention and opportunities from my professors here that I don’t believe I would have gotten at any other institution.”
