Poet and Essayist Jeff Alessandrelli will deliver this year's William C. Kloefkorn Writers Series reading.
Alessandrelli is the author of the recent poetry collection Fur Not Light (2019), which The Kenyon Review called an “example of radical humility…its poems enact a quiet but persistent empathy in the world of creative writing.” Entitled Nothing of the Month Club, an expanded version of Fur Not Light was released in the United Kingdom in 2021. Forthcoming in 2022 from the press [PANK] is a novel focused on selfhood and the contemporary sex recession.
In addition to his writing Alessandrelli also directs the nonprofit book press/record label Fonograf Editions. He graduated with his PHD in Literature/Creative Writing from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2013. Learn more about Alessandrelli: https://jeffalessandrelli.net/
The reading is presented by Nebraska Wesleyan University’s William C. Kloefkorn Nebraska Writers Series and is free and open to the public. Kloefkorn taught English at Nebraska Wesleyan for 35 years from 1962 to 1997. He died in May 2011.

Nebraska Wesleyan's choral ensembles are coming together with spring opera soloists and children from the Nebraska Academy of Vocal Arts to take part in a community sing and fundraiser for Ukrainian aid. Audience members are encouraged to join in the concert.
Programming will include jazz standards by the Gershwins; choral arrangements by Sweet Honey and the Rock; Jake Runestad's epic masterwork "A Silence Haunts Me"; and African American spirituals arranged by Stacey Gibbs.

UMCOR is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that responds to dozens of unsung disasters every year. All donations are directed to an earmarked relief effort or project - administrative expenses are funded through an annual offering collected by United Methodist churches. When a natural or human-caused disaster strikes outside of the United States, UMCOR serves as the primary channel for United Methodist assistance. Assistance includes, aiding refugees fleeing disasters with food, water, hygiene, and other essential non-food supplies and temporary shelter. This exhibition presents a variety of works ranging from excerpts of her visual novel "Mestiza Dos Veces" to collaborative book projects like "Redolent" with poet Farid Matuk and "Un Acordeón Tras la Reja" with the Instituto Caro Y Cuervo de Colombia.
Elder Gallery is located inside the Rogers Center for Fine Arts at 50th Street and Huntington Ave.

Kevin Cokley, Ph.D., will present at this year's Fawl Psychology Lecture.
His presentation is entitled "The Role of the Impostor Phenomenon in Ethnic Minority Student Achievement and Mental Health."
Dr. Cokley is a distinguished teaching professor and chair of the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds the Oscar and Anne Mauzy Regents Professorship for Educational Research and Development and is appointed in the Department of African and African Diaspora Studies. His research focuses on the psychological and environmental factors that impact African American academic achievement, with recent work focusing on the impostor phenomenon and its relationship to mental health and academic outcomes.
The presentation is hosted by the Nebraska Wesleyan Psychology Department. The event will be virtual and is open to the public. A link to the presentation is forthcoming.

On Tuesday, March 29, TC Tolbert (s/he) will present a virtual reading and Q&A.
TC Tolbert identifies as a trans and genderqueer feminist, collaborator, mover, and poet. And, s/he’s a human in love with humans doing human things. S/he is author of Gephyromania (Ah- sahta Press 2014 and re-released in 2022 by Nightboat Books), five chapbooks, and co-editor of Troubling the Line: Trans and Genderqueer Poetry and Poetics (Nightboat Books 2013). TC was awarded an Academy of American Poets’ Laureate Fellowship in 2019 for their work with trans, non-binary, and queer folks as Tucson’s Poet Laureate. S/he also loves collaborating with wood.

Dr. Megan Littrell ('00) will serve as this year's Amos and Alice Fetzer Memorial Lecture speaker. Dr. Littrell serves as the project director for the phase III trials of the attractive targeted sugar bait at PATH in Washington, D.C. and project director for the President’s Malaria Initiative Insights Project.
