Elder Gallery is located inside the Rogers Center for Fine Arts at 50th Street and Huntington Ave.

Ameena Hussein is an author and co-founder of the Perera-Hussein Publishing House. Her non-fiction book on the fourteenth century Moroccan traveller Ibn Battuta in Sri Lanka was published in November 2020 and shortlisted for the Gratiaen Prize in 2021. Her novel The Moon in the Water was longlisted for the Man Asian Literary Award and the Dublin IMPAC. Her debut short story collection Fifteen was shortlisted for the Gratiaen Prize in 1999 and her second collection of short stories Zillij won the State Literary Prize in 2005. She has compiled and edited three popular collections of children’s stories and a collection of stories for adults. Her non-fiction work, Sometimes there is no Blood is a seminal sociological study on Violence against Women. A believer in working towards a greener environment, she plants trees while running a coconut and cashew farm on the north-west coast of Sri Lanka. Ameena Hussein lives with her husband in the capital city of Colombo.

Nebraska Wesleyan University's Choirs sing the good news of the holiday season in a concert sharing the hope and peace of the Christmas story. With the colorful accompaniment of piano, organ, and chamber orchestra, the program will also feature performances by choirs from Columbus High School and Fremont High School. The audience will be invited to sing carols as well!
An online performance of specially-recorded excerpts from this program will be premiered on Monday, December 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Attendance is free. There will be two showings of this concert on Saturday, December 4 - one at 4:30 p.m. and another at 7:30 p.m.

Nebraska Wesleyan University’s Symphonic Band will perform works written and inspired by nature and life on earth. Works written by David Maslanka, Travis J. Cross, Percy Grainger, Julie Giroux, Jack Stamp, and Timothy Mahr will be presented by students from various concentrations of study. With pieces depicting nature, the band hopes to evoke the passing of seasons, including a whimsical piece about snowflakes representing Winter. The concert will end with a piece highlighting our duty to the planet and all its inhabitants.
