Two Nebraska Wesleyan University art students received top honors at the Nebraska National Undergraduate Juried Art Exhibition held this fall.

Marissa Boyer, a junior, and Katie Samson, a senior, both of Omaha, were awarded first place prizes at the exhibition, which features 30 of the best undergraduate student artists from across the country. Boyer exhibited a sculpture and Samson exhibited an oil painting.

In September their work was displayed in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Each student submission has the chance to receive a $1,000 first place award or a $1,500 grand prize award. Out of the five total awards given, Boyer and Samson each received the Howard Award of Excellence, winning a $1,000 first place prize for their artwork.
