MAINTENANCE ALERT: Urgent network maintenance scheduled for Friday (10/14)

Published

CSIT has scheduled an urgent maintenance operation for tomorrow (Friday, 10/14) at 4:50pm.  The maintenance window will allow our Network Administrator in position and install an important security upgrade to the firewall’s operating system software.

CSIT was provided an urgent security alert from our firewall manufacturer – Fortinet – regarding a software bug which could allow an unauthenticated individual to access and perform operations on the firewall using the devices administrative interface.  The bug impacts a range of Fortinet’s operating system versions, included the version which is currently in our production environment.  The software update which will be installed during the scheduled maintenance window will patch this security bug.

The maintenance window will begin at 4:50pm (Friday, 10/14), will require a reboot of the firewall to put into production and will require about 10 – 15 minutes to complete.  During the period of the operation, connectivity between the campus network and Internet will be interrupted.

We regret any inconvenience which the short notice for this operation may cause and appreciate your patience as we complete this security fix.
