Scheduled Internet service interruption: Wednesday, 3/11

Published

CSIT has been informed by United Private Networks (UPN) of a maintenance operation which will impact NWU's Internet services.

UPN will be transitioning a section of their optical fiber network from aerial to underground.  It will be necessary to re-splice the campus optical fiber link in order to accommodate this transition.  That process will interrupt the campus connection to the Internet, as well as the connection between the Lincoln campus and our Omaha site.

UPN expects to begin work at about 9:00pm on Wednesday, March 11; they expect to have the work completed by about 6:00am on Thursday, March 12.  While Internet service will not be interrupted for the entire 9 hours of the maintenance operation, there will be intermittent interruptions throughout that period.

Note that many NWU services (such as Office 365 and Canvas) which are hosted off campus will continue to be available, though not from the NWU campus network.

Thank you for your patience with this process.
