Holiday Blessings from Our Campus Community

Published:

As the holidays approach, we’re often reminded to pause and reflect on our blessings. This comes easily because we have so many reasons to celebrate this year. For example, this fall, we:

  • welcomed our third largest class of new students in NWU history,
  • broke ground on our new baseball and softball stadiums,
  • completed the renovation of Elder Theatre,
  • launched a new major in public health.

We continue to invest in your student’s education and provide those impactful experiences that you expect of a Nebraska Wesleyan education.

Your Fall Semester Halftime Update

We’re approaching the midpoint of the fall semester. Soon, students will finish midterm papers, projects, and exams, then take a well-earned break. Fall break begins Friday, October 13, with classes resuming on Wednesday, October 18.

Professors submit midterm progress reports before fall break. These reports notify students when their professors have concerns about their academic progress. In most cases, these reports do not mean a student is failing a particular course. Areas of concern might include poor attendance, low exam scores or missing assignments.

Looking Ahead to the Spring Semester

Soon after our students return from fall break, academic advising and registration for the spring 2024 academic term will begin.

At Nebraska Wesleyan, our faculty serve as students’ academic advisors. They’re dedicated to meeting with each student individually. At an academic advising appointment, your student will receive experienced advice about academic planning. They can discuss any challenges impacting their academics, and get advice, support and help with problem-solving strategies.

NWU Breaks Ground on Baseball and Softball Complex

A late August groundbreaking ceremony marked the official start of construction of the Sandhills Global Youth Complex near Oak Lake Park in Lincoln. The complex will be the new home for Nebraska Wesleyan University baseball and softball teams beginning spring 2025.

President Darrin Good said, "This new home for Prairie Wolves baseball and softball will match the excellence that we exude in our academics and in our campus life—including our fantastic athletic programs."
