ITS Policy and Standards Implementation Timeline

This is a drafted timeline that is subject to change. ITS will work with their communities to develop a timeline for changes and implementations.

 

August 1st, 2025 (In Progress)

  • Begin inventory of systems/services.
  • Continue enrolling university-owned endpoints in management.
  • Implementation of ITS-17: Digital Course Retention Standard.
    • Continued work to ensure all Canvas course content meets ADA and WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards. 

 

October 1st, 2025 (Completed)

  • MFA required for all faculty, staff, and students. (Completed)

 

October 13th, 2025 (Completed)

  • Disable auto-run for external devices on Windows (Completed)

  • Implement LAPS for MacOS devices (Completed)

     

October 14th, 2025 (Completed)

  • Begin deploying NinjaOne (Patch Management and Remote Support) through Jamf and Intune

 

October 22nd, 2025 (Completed)

  • All courses prior to Fall 2024 will be marked as Completed and archived to prepare for upcoming accessibility requirements. (ITS-17)
  • Colleague UI connected to Okta SSO and MFA enforced.
     

October 27th, 2025 (Completed)

  • Begin Operating System Patching for Windows and Mac devices

     

November 1st, 2025 - (Delayed)

  • Security awareness training requirements for current employees.

     

November 3rd, 2025 (Completed)

  • Lower inbound e-mail spam filter bulk threshold to 4.

 

December 1st, 2025 (Completed)

  • Lower inbound e-mail spam filter bulk threshold to 3.

 

January 1st, 2026 (Completed)

  • Automatic Email forwarding no longer permitted.

  • University faculty and staff must use university email accounts for university business.

     

January 19th, 2026

  • All courses created before Fall 2025 will be marked as Completed and archived. Moving forward, all courses will be marked as Completed and archived at the end of each academic year (July 31st) will be archived. (ITS-17)

 

April 1st, 2026

  • Enforcement of device encryption for NWU Individual Endpoints (Desktops and Laptops)

  • Enforcement of device firewall configuration for NWU Endpoints (Desktops and Laptops)

     

July 1st, 2026

  • Removal of user administrator privileges on NWU Endpoints (Desktops and Laptops)
