Associate Professor of Social Work and Master of Social Work Program Director Toni Jensen, DSW, is the recipient of the 2022-23 Faculty Mentor of the Year award. The award recognizes faculty who help to improve teaching, foster professional growth, and assist their colleagues in participating meaningfully to NWU's campus and community.

"As a new faculty member, it can be challenging entering an unfamiliar environment… Toni's mentorship demonstrates that she genuinely cares about each faculty member in the Social Work Department," said one nominator. "She has fostered an environment where we celebrate each other’s successes and care about each other’s wellbeing."

Jensen was also praised for being a great support to her colleagues and is "generous with [her] time and assistance in getting classes prepared."

Earlier this year, Jensen was a 2022 finalist for the Inspire Award's Excellence in Education category, presented by the Lincoln Journal Star. The Inspire Awards was created in 2015 to honor influential and deserving women in the Lincoln community.

Congratulations on this achievement and all you do for our community, Toni!
