Nebraska Wesleyan University's Panhellenic Council has been recognized nationally for its outstanding achievement in academics, public relations, self governance and judicial affairs.

Panhellenic Council — the governing body of Nebraska Wesleyan's sororities — was recognized during the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values (AFLV) Conference, held February 9-12 in St. Louis, Mo.

The AFLV Awards and Assessment Program is designed to assist councils in achieving the highest level of excellence possible in their programming and council management.

"The sorority community and specifically Panhellenic Council worked tirelessly to evaluate their current programming and governing policies," said Erin Morettes, Associate Director of Student Involvement and Director of Greek Life. "Both the fraternity and sorority community implemented numerous events and workshops that evaluated the community's commitment to the advancement of brotherhood, sisterhood, academics, leadership and service."

NWU students Emalee Barto and Kate Eaton, both members of Willard Sorority, and Nicole Peterson, a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, worked throughout 2011 to compile documentation of their award-winning efforts.

Panhellenic Council is composed of two delegates from each NWU sorority chapter along with officers responsible for governing the sororities.

Both Panhellenic Council and Interfraternity Council are already preparing programming and documentation for the 2012 awards.
