NWU travel to destinations listed as “Level 4: Do Not Travel” by the U.S. Department of State (US DoS) is strictly prohibited by NWU policy.
NWU travel to destinations listed as “Warning Level 3, Avoid Nonessential Travel” by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is strictly prohibited by NWU policy.
NWU travel to destinations listed as “Level 3: Reconsider Travel” by the U.S. Department of State (US DoS) is prohibited. However, NWU travelers may submit written requests for permission from the NWU International Education Committee (IEC) for destinations at “Level 3: Reconsider Travel.”

In cases where a country or region within a country are listed as “Level 4” by the U.S. Department of State (US DoS) due to medical/health advisories only, NWU travelers may use the petition process described above to submit written requests for permission from the NWU International Education Committee (IEC).
NWU prohibits travel to a precise geographical region or city designated as “Do Not Travel” or “Reconsider Travel” even if that region lies within the borders of a country otherwise listed as either “Level 1” or “Level 2.” For example, if Country A is listed as “Level 1” but a city within Country A is listed as “Level 3,” NWU travelers may not travel to that city.
If a US DoS Level 3 or Level 4 Travel Advisory or CDC Warning is issued after departure, NWU travelers in the affected area shall follow the guidance provided the US DoS or CDC until the NWU Director of Global Engagement provides guidance and direction regarding the steps necessary to ensure health and safety, including possibly return to the United States. NWU travelers must comply with such guidance and direction.
