The United Way of Lincoln and Lancaster County recently recognized Travis and Karla Jensen as "Workplace Campaign Heroes."

Travis, Faculty and Curriculum Coordinator and Co-director of Lincoln Advantage Program, and Karla, Associate Professor of Communication, served as this year's United Way campaign co-chairs for Nebraska Wesleyan University. The Jensens were honored for bringing creativity, energy and excitement to the University's campaign, including their agreement to do flips for every percentage increase over last's year's University campaign total. This resulted in a 23 percent increase in total dollars raised by NWU.

In addition to energizing employees to give financially, the Jensens met with student groups across campus about United Way. This resulted in 13 students who agreed to serve as readers, tutors and mentors for various United Way agencies.
