Two Nebraska Wesleyan University students have been selected for the Spring 2027 cohort of the Capitol Hill Internship Program (CHIP), a premier experiential learning opportunity that connects NWU students to high-impact internships available only in Washington, D.C.
Arabelle Horst and Rhyanne Mackling will live in the nation’s capital next spring while gaining practical, hands-on experience through internships. The CHIP program offers internships in a variety of settings, including government agencies, nonprofit organizations, the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government, private corporations, lobbying firms and associations.
Horst, a political science/business administration double major, and Mackling, a political science/criminology double major, each have 4.0 GPAs. In addition to their internships, the duo will:
- Earn up to 15 credit hours through their internship work, seminars and coursework
- Live in a Capitol Hill townhouse, just steps away from the Capitol and major landmarks.
- Engage in a weekly seminar discussing current D.C. issues with field experts.
- Build their network of career contacts.
Nebraska Wesleyan students currently in Washington, D.C. with the CHIP program include Stella Mumgaard (internship with the John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress), Moo Htee Paw (Monument Legal), Reid Styskal (U.S. House of Representatives, Adrian Smith), and Brennen Weidner (Library of Congress, Museum Studies).
