Nebraska Wesleyan University's Touch of Class Jazz Choir will make three performance stops during its spring tour to Iowa.

The 14-member ensemble has toured extensively throughout the Midwest since its formation in 1975. Touch of Class has performed with the professional Nebraska Brass Quintet, has appeared at the Greeley Jazz Festival, and was a featured choir in the Sing Around Nebraska concert at the Lied Center in Lincoln. The ensemble is under the direction of Boyd Bacon who is in his 28th year at Nebraska Wesleyan.

During its spring tour, Touch of Class will perform familiar jazz standards including “Satin Doll,” “Swinging on a Star,” and a new arrangement of “My Favorite Things.”

In addition to its free public concerts, Touch of Class will conduct workshops at high schools in Underwood, Shenandoah and Red Oak.

The performance schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, March 7— 7:30 p.m., First Methodist Church, 200 Church Street, Shenandoah
  • Tuesday, March 8— 7:30 p.m., Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4114 Allison Avenue, Des Moines (This will be a joint concert with the acapella jazz choir, Da Capo)
  • Wednesday, March 9— 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 633 Willow Avenue, Council Bluffs
