Presidential Communication Expert to Discuss Political Advertising and 2012 Election

A presidential communication expert will share his take on the 2012 electoral campaign at an upcoming Nebraska Wesleyan University lecture.

Jason A. Edwards, Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Bridgewater State University, will deliver Nebraska Wesleyan’s Lambda Pi Eta communication lecture. His talk, titled, “Telling America’s Story: Political Advertising in the 2012 Electoral Campaign,” will be held Monday, April 2 at 1 p.m. in Olin B Lecture Hall.

Edwards specializes in the intersection between rhetoric and politics, specifically he examines American presidential communication, U.S. foreign policy discourse, and global political rhetoric.

He is the author of “Navigating the Post Cold War World: President Clinton’s Foreign Policy Rhetoric,” and “The Rhetoric of American Exceptionalism: Critical Essays. Additionally, he has published over 30 articles and book chapters, and has been featured in many journals including Rhetoric and Public Affairs, Presidential Studies Quarterly, Communication Quarterly, and The Howard Journal of Communications.

His lecture is free and open to the public.
