NWU Music Students Among Finalists at State NATS Competition

The Nebraska Chapter of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) held their state voice auditions at Nebraska Wesleyan University on October 7.

Over 240 singers, from other Nebraska colleges and universities, competed including 36 Wesleyan NWU students.

A student may compete in NATS if his or her teacher is a member, and is available to serve as an adjudicator. NWU vocal instructors Boyd Bacon, Amy Guevara, Dawn Krogh, and Janene Sheldon each sponsored students for this year's competition.

The following students were selected as finalists:

  • Laynee Woodward, Sophomore Women, Second Place (student of Dawn Krogh)
  • Ross Mumford, Sophomore Men, Third Place (student of Jana Holzmeier)
  • Cadie Jochum, Junior Women (student of Jana Holzmeier)
  • Kaitlyn Meyer, Junior Women (student of Dawn Krogh)
  • Jesse Wohlman, Junior Men, First Place (student of Jana Holzmeier)
  • Eric Wyler, Junior Men (student of Jana Holzmeier)
  • Sam Zitterkopf, Senior Men, Second Place (student of Jana Holzmeier)
  • Titus Kautz, Senior Men, Third Place (student of Jana Holzmeier)
  • Kegan Casey, Junior Men (student of Amy Guevara)
  • Samantha Peters, Senior Women (student of Amy Guevara)

NWU staff Mollie Manner, Dick Morris, and Lynn Schlater were the accompanists for the singers.
