Jazz Choir to Perform in Blair, Fremont, Columbus

Nebraska Wesleyan University’s Touch of Class Jazz Choir will make three performance stops on its spring tour.

The ensemble will perform concerts in Blair on March 14, Fremont on March 15 and Columbus on March 16.

Touch of Class is a select choir that focuses on jazz repertoire. They will perform Robert Ray’s “Gospel Mass,” a six-movement work taken from traditional Latin sacred texts. Other music will include jazz standards sung to new arrangements including “Call Me,” “Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans,” “Bim-Bom” and “Route 66.” They will conclude with “How Sweet the Sound,” a Brazilian take on “Amazing Grace.”

Touch of Class Jazz Choir is under the direction of Boyd Bacon.

The concert schedule includes:

Friday, March 14 — 7 p.m., First Methodist Church, 1656 Colfax Street, Blair, free-will offering.

Saturday, March 15 — 6:30 p.m., Fremont First Methodist Church, 815 North Broad Street, Fremont. The jazz choir will participate in the 6:30 p.m. worship service followed by a vocal jazz concert, free-will offering.

Sunday, March 16 — 7 p.m., Federated Church, 2704 15th Street, Columbus, free-will offering.
