Wesleyan Named Among Country's Top Fulbright Scholarship Producers

Sunday, November 1, 2009

For the fifth year, Nebraska Wesleyan has been recognized as one of the top producers of the prestigious Fulbright scholarship.

On October 18, The Chronicle of Higher Education issued its annual list of the country’s top Fulbright producing schools. Nebraska Wesleyan University was listed among the top 30 bachelor’s degree institutions — the only Nebraska college or university listed in this category.

The Fulbright is considered one of the world’s most prestigious and competitive awards for international education. Approximately 7,500 faculty and students are selected for the honor from among thousands of applicants.

Four Nebraska Wesleyan University students won Fulbright scholarships during the 2008-2009 academic year including Andrea Duntz and Lacey Johnson who are both studying in Germany, Alicia Dallman who is studying in Spain and Maggie Mitteis who is studying in Poland.

Twenty-six Nebraska Wesleyan University students have been awarded Fulbright scholarships in the last decade.
