Travis Dyson enters his second season as the assistant soccer coach for Nebraska Wesleyan University. He will be the assistant coach of both the men's and women's soccer programs. He will also be directing the NWU soccer camps throughout the year. Dyson brings a lot of knowledge and experience in soccer, stemming from his club soccer playing days in Des Moines, Iowa and club soccer coaching in Lincoln and Gretna, Nebraska.
Dyson served as the Youth Director for the Nebraska Rush Soccer Club from 2008-2010 and Assistant Director of Coaching with the Gretna Soccer Club from 2010-2012. He has 12 years of soccer coaching experience, which includes administrating coaching clinics, camps, and working with the youth/select side of soccer. He also holds a USSF National ''C'' Coaching License and holds a USSF National "Youth" License.
Dyson’s club playing experience consists of being a member of the 1982 State Iowa ODP team. He played club soccer for Waukee Vision Soccer Academy and was part of the first team to win the Iowa State Cup Championships in its programs history. He was also a two time National qualifier in 3 vs 3 soccer, competing in Des Moines and Indianapolis. In addition, Dyson has traveled overseas to Sao Paulo, Brazil, competing and training with his club team in 1995.
Dyson was a four-year letter winner in high school soccer. He earned all Central Iowa Metropolitan League honors as a defender his junior year and all CIML honors as a forward his senior year. He also was recognized as Team Captain his senior year. During his high school years, his team finished as high as a #4 ranking in the State. Dyson was a four-year letter winner at Luther College, a NCAA III program, in Decorah, Iowa. During his four-year collegiate career, he helped Luther College establish a 61-26-3 record. He was also a member of the 2001 NCAA Elite Eight Luther College Team, which finished eighth in the Division III final rankings. Dyson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Management from Luther College in 2004.
He and his wife, Heather, reside in Lincoln.
