1989 Initially employed at Nebraska Wesleyan University in the Nursing program

1976 - 1981 University of Nebraska Medical Center Nursing program on the Lincoln campus. Taught Maternal-Child (Pediatrics, Obstetrics including Labor and Delivery, Nursery and Post Partum and Gynecology) in the Associate Degree in Nursing program.

1974 - 1976 Worked in the older pediatric unit (6 year olds to adolescence) and floated to the Pediatric Intensive Care unit as needed at the University Nebraska Medical Center. Pediatric oncology and pediatric cardiology were areas of emphasis.

Also have experience in working at Hattie B. Monroe, a pediatric rehabilitation facility associated with Meyer's Institute of the University of Nebraska Medical Center at the Omaha campus

2012 PhD in Educational Studiers with an emphasis in Leadership in Higher Education from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln

1979 Masters of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in Maternal Child Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center

1974 Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center

Teaching philosophy: 

Learning is a lifelong adventure and one of the most exciting and fulfilling experiences in the human experience. As a professor, I endeavor to facilitate and guide students' learning to accomplish their learning goals. When appropriate, it is important to emphasize students' self efficacy in achieving their goals. Self efficacy is a concept developed by Bandura.

Learning is a vital dynamic and interactive process in which the teacher guide and student learner both are enriched. This is consistent with the social cognitive approach proposed by Vygotsky and Benner, which I embrace. The teacher guide and student learner are both active participants in the learning process. Trust and transparency in the teacher guide and student learner relationship greatly enhances the learning process. The approach to learning should be customized to the individual learner as much as possible.
