Background: 

Dr. Van Hof received her B. A. in elementary education from Michigan State University with minor concentrations in history and sociology. She also earned her M. A. from MSU in curriculum and instruction. Dr. Van Hof began her teaching career in Perry, MI. She taught in general education classrooms at the elementary level.

In the spring of 2012, Dr. Van Hof completed her doctoral program of studies at Western Michigan University. Her research focused on the construct of academic optimism. Dr. Van Hof completed case studies exploring low-income and high-achieving elementary schools in Michigan.
