Soon after our students return from fall break, academic advising and registration for the spring 2024 academic term will begin.

At Nebraska Wesleyan, our faculty serve as students’ academic advisors. They’re dedicated to meeting with each student individually. At an academic advising appointment, your student will receive experienced advice about academic planning. They can discuss any challenges impacting their academics, and get advice, support and help with problem-solving strategies.

This approach to academic advising reflects our commitment to personal attention—the core value at the heart of the Nebraska Wesleyan experience.

Please encourage your student to respond when their academic advisor invites them to schedule an advising appointment.

These appointments are important for all students—including seniors. Your senior may have lots of experience with the curriculum and associated tools like Self Service (our student information platform). But they’re also likely planning for their final semester before commencement—and their advisor’s expertise can help them avoid mistakes that could delay their graduation. November is the perfect time for your student to check in with their academic advisor and the Registrar’s Office to ensure that they will successfully complete all program requirements on schedule.

Advisors also sit down with sophomores and juniors to discuss opportunities for internships and study abroad. And first-year students can carry forward their advising relationships with the professor of their Archway Seminar to build their spring semester schedule.

Registration for the spring term starts Tuesday, November 7 for students with senior status (90+ credit hours), and continues through Thursday, November 16 for first-year students (< 25.5 credit hours). NWU notifies students by email with the exact day and time their registration window opens. Your student may also find this information by logging into their Self Service account.
