Shawn taught at Mickle Middle School from 1994-1997. She became a Link in 1997 and has taught at LHS from 1997-2000 and from 2003-current.

Specialty training that she has received include workshops and conferences on A.P. Visual Art training, ELL Leadership Institute, and Communication Design.

She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska--but has lived in Chicago, Illinois and Tucson, Arizona. She lives in Lincoln with her husband and two cats and always is looking for great new music.


Shawn received her B.F.A. in sculpture at UNL with an endorsement in Art Education. She earned a Masters of Design from the Illinois Institute of Technology's Institute of Design in Chicago. She previously worked in the world of design at a product design consultancy, Gravity Tank, in Chicago. She currently holds the Art Department chair position.

Teaching philosophy: 

Her artistic interests focus around sculpture, pottery and drawing. She has a great interest in promoting and developing creative thinking with her students.
