Mail app in Apple's iOS 11 update imcompatible with Microsoft Office 365, Outlook.com and Exchange Server 2016.

Apple has released the latest version of their mobile operating system – iOS 11.  Whatever improvements the new mobile OS might include, it is becoming clear that there are some big problems, too.

On eof the big problems being reported for iOS 11 and confirmed by Microsoft and Apple is that the native iOS 11 Mail app is not compatible with Microsoft cloud services such as Office 365, Outlook.com and Exchange Server 2016.  What this means is that if you are using the iOS Mail app on your iPhone or iPad to access your NWU mail, then after upgrading to iOS 11 you will no longer be able to send or receive email from that account.

Microsoft and Apple are working together to resolve the issue, but until then we recommend that you hold of on updating iOS on your iPhones or iPads.  If you have already run the update and had been using the Mail app to access your NWU Office 365 account, your work around will be to download the Microsoft Outlook for iOS application from the App Store and use that to connect to your NWU Office 365 account.

We will be posting an update regrding this issue (as, no doubt, will Apple) as soon as we know of a resolution.
