Help with mailings and inventory, organization of materials (one and a half to two hour online training is required to work in office setting).

Bluestem Health

Adminstrative Support: help with referrals and prior authorizations and various other administrative support functions; Nurse: to conduct various duties up to their scope of practice.

Bryan Health

Areas that especially interest college students include Emergency Department, Neurosciences, Pediatrics, Mother/Baby, Nutrition & Dining Services, and Customer Care areas.

Capital Humane Society of Nebraska

Help with general cleaning to include sweeping, mopping, dishes, laundry and yard work.

Carol Joy Holling Camp

This does vary depending on the time of the year.  There is almost always maintenance and grounds work that can be done.  As listed above there is also opportunities for retreat hosting, office support, event help, or special projects.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Lancaster County

Be an advocate for absued and neglected children in the Juvenile Court - internships also possible.

Providing clerical support to our outpatient or day rehabilitation programs (filing, reception, etc) is often available for students/interns. Depending on availibity, students may also have the opportunity to observe or lead non-therapeutic group sessions, shadow case managers, assist with screenings, or other direct service duties.

Information Desk, Gift Shop Volunteer, and Processing Inventory Volunteers (Work in a sterile environment to check expiration dates, inventory;) are needed.

Child Advocacy Center

Volunteers are mostly needed to assist with special events and fundraisers throughout the year. Occasionally, we also need volunteers to serve at our front desk for 3-4 hours once per week.

Impact Reading Center Tutor Program – One-on-one reading tutor with a struggling reader.

Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunder Counties

Childcare,  classroom volunteers, Opportunity Passport and Financial Well-being volunteers, Administrative volunteers, various other volunteer experiences.

Children's advocate - faciilitate a support group for children over the age of five; provide childcare for children under five in the shelter environment.

Girls on the Run of Nebraska

Coaches meet with teams after school to learn life skills such as communication, teamwork and positive thinking as well as play running games to complete a 5K run/walk at the end of the 10 week semester.

Good Neighbor Community Center

Shopping Floor Assistance, Pantry Assistance, Clients pick out their own food and if they need help loading it in their vehicle you may be asked to do so, help unload Food Bank delivery, and help with sorting out clothes.

Indigo Bridge Books

Bilingual readers, English plus another language, for story times. Cultural musicians,  any languages Mentor/homework help, in-store short term, off-site in future Guest educator, teach a single lesson to children in conjuncture with LPS outreach.

Prep Time:

30-60 minutes prior to each visit to the classroom

Volunteer Time:

30-45 minutes, Monday-Friday OR once-a-week, for 5 weeks – Elementary

45 minutes, generally once-a-week, for 6 weeks – Middle

45 minutes, generally once-a-week, for 7 weeks- High School

Keep Lincoln and Lancaster County Beautiful

Litter cleanups and Storm Water Awarness Program (SWAP) as well as grant opportunities available under the community improvement grants that students/organizations can apply for.


Prepare an evening meal or light snack for youth. Tutor or lead an educational workshop for youth. One time project at Lighthouse such as landscaping, painting or cleaning. Teach classes and create healthy relationships and healthy boundaries.

Volunteer tutors are needed to help refugees, immigrants, and native speakers acquire basic English literacy skills. Lincoln Literacy provides training, books and materials, and matches volunteers with a student.

After school enrichment club activities, science, math, music and other art opportunities.

Mourning Hope

Facilitators can assist with groups and activities for children and families grieving the loss of a family member. Otherwise, volunteer groups needed for cleaning, sewing, filing.

Nebraska Democratic Party

Volunteers will be most helpful and greatly appreciated during the campaign season.

Nebraska Heart Hospital

Volunteer ambassadors - serves as ambassadors for visitors and guests. The volunteer would prepare and deliver complementary snacks to visitors as well as providing directions or escorting to desired locations.

Sheldon Museum of Art

Docents (an educated member of staff who is trained to give tours and provide information about all the featured artworks on exhibit in the museum and Sculpture Garden).

Teammates (LPS)

Mentoring with 3rd to 12th graders. Be sure to mention that you are seeking to be a TeamMates mentor. 

Ten Thousand Villages

Sales associate duties - become familiar with history, mission, and products in order to share information with customers. Greet and assist customers, help is also needed with cleaning, organizing and merchandizing on occasion.

The Cat House

Feeding and caring for cats, as well as office responsibilits, such as database entry, newsletter design, and secretarial work.
