Master of Science in Nursing
Nebraska Wesleyan is recognized as one of the leaders in nursing education in the state of Nebraska.
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree prepares students to be leaders in the field of nursing as nurse educators, administrators, leaders and managers. The curriculum offers students a choice between two tracks: one focusing on the nurse as educator and one on the nurse as leader and manager. Our highly qualified faculty makes personal attention to students an integral part of the MSN program.
The MSN program is open to two career paths: those who have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN to MSN) and those who are Registered Nurses (RN to MSN).
NWU also offers two MBA program options for nurses:
- MSN/MBA – The region’s only joint degree program pairs nursing and business education.
- MSN to MBA Bridge – Nurses with an MSN in management or leadership can earn an MBA faster with this program.
The mission of the graduate Master of Science in Nursing program is to provide students with the advanced knowledge and practical techniques they will need to serve in their chosen fields of interest: one focusing on the nurse as educator and one on the nurse as leader and manager. The MSN also prepares students for the challenges of modern nursing through its overall emphasis on trans-cultural nursing, ethics, research and the application of knowledge and skills in a practice setting.
With an MSN degree, you can work in research, public health, and advanced levels of nursing administration, as well as a nurse educator. As a teacher you may work at community colleges and universities. Nurse educators combine clinical skills and knowledge together with their passion for teaching future nurses.
NWU offers an accelerated education program designed for working adults. Eight-week sessions, conducted one day a week in Lincoln and Omaha, are geared to your busy schedule.
