Social Work Degree

The Adult Undergraduate Bachelor of Science in social work will give you general skills to help individuals, groups, and communities function successfully in the social arena: from dealing with poverty and domestic abuse to disability and mental illness. The degree also includes training in statistics and research.

Degree Requirements

The program consists of 30 hours of coursework in the major. There are also 19–22 hours of supporting coursework designed to meet your specific interests.

General education requirements for graduation from Nebraska Wesleyan University must be fulfilled by all candidates for any baccalaureate degree, including the Bachelor of Science in social work.

Class Schedule

Courses are offered in five- and eight-week sessions. Classes meet one night a week from 6 p.m.–10 p.m.

Personal goals statement

Share your reasons why you are applying for provisional admission into Nebraska Wesleyan’s social work program. Please also list any work or volunteer experience relevant to the field of social work. You may upload your personal goal statement or enter it in your online application for admission.


The Social Work program at Nebraska Wesleyan University complies with the standards of and is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

Due to some limitations for which unlicensed social workers may work and some variation in the requirements to obtain a license, those interested in becoming a social worker should research licensure requirements in their State.
