NWU recognizes that tobacco smoke is a hazard to the health of the University community. To protect the health of the University community, NWU designates all buildings as smoke-free. Designed smoking areas are next to cigarette containers located outside of the buildings.
The use of smokeless tobacco is prohibited campus wide. Smoking in vehicles owned or leased by the University is prohibited. Visitors to Nebraska Wesleyan University are included under this policy. The success of this policy depends on the thoughtfulness, consideration, and cooperation of smokers and nonsmokers.
The University community shares in the responsibility for adhering to and enforcing this policy. Non-compliance will be addressed in the same way as other policy violations. Student concerns about their treatment under the policy will be handled through the existing resolution process.
