U.S. News Names NWU a Top Regional University

U.S. News & World Report has named Nebraska Wesleyan University a top regional university.

Senior political science majors Evan Mathers and Ryan Klute received a Student-Faculty Collaborative Research Grant to travel to Scotland to study the impact of 16-year-old voters on elections.

Voting is an enormous responsibility at the age of 18. Imagine being granted the right at 16.

In 2015, Scotland lowered its voting age to 16-years-old — the youngest voters across the globe.

“Sixteen and 17-year-olds are not too far from our age,” said Nebraska Wesleyan University senior political science major Evan Mathers.

Sophomores Michaela Wells and Laurel Withee traveled to Flint, Michigan, to distribute 15,000 bottles of water over two days last summer.

Sophomores Michaela Wells and Laurel Withee recognized Earth Week last April by attending at lecture about the Flint, Michigan water crisis. Little did they know a 60-minute lecture would lead them to an 11-hour drive.

Sophomore Eric Kimberly decided to pursue all of his academic passions: theatre, math, and education and is majoring in all three. He is also a peer assistant in Plainsman Hall.

So it was no surprise when he decided to major in theatre in college.

But interest in math and education also intrigued him as he began diving into his NWU classes. Before long, he decided to major in all three.
