Nebraska Wesleyan University Theatre opened its season in mid-August with the longest-running American musical in Broadway history — "Chicago." It was the first of 12 main-stage productions scheduled for the 2015-2016 academic year.

During the spring semester, NWU will mark the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death with a series of shows written or inspired by the Bard.

  • Suddenly Last Summer — Oct. 2-3, 8-10, 7:30 p.m.; Oct. 4, 11, 2 p.m., Miller Theatre
  • Thoroughly Modern Millie — Oct. 29-31, Nov. 5-7, 7:30 p.m.; Nov. 1, 8, 2 p.m., McDonald Theatre
  • It’s Only A Play — Nov. 12-14, 19-21, 7:30 p.m.; Nov. 15, 22, 2 p.m., Miller Theatre
  • A Christmas Carol — Dec. 3-5, 10-12, 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 6, 13, 2 p.m., McDonald Theatre
  • Desdemona: A Play About A Handkerchief — Feb. 11-13, 7:30 p.m.; Feb. 14, 2 p.m.; Feb. 19, 20, 26, 27, 10:30 p.m., Studio Theatre
  • Othello — Feb. 18-20, 25-27, 7:30 p.m.; Feb. 21, 28, 2 p.m.; Miller Theatre

  • Mrs. Shakespeare — April 7-9, 14-16, 7:30 p.m.; April 10, 17, 2 p.m.; Miller Theatre
  • Kiss Me Kate — April 20, 22, 24, 28, 30, 7:30 p.m.; April 23, May 1, 2 p.m., McDonald Theatre
  • The Taming of the Shrew — April 21, 23, 27, 29, May 1, 7:30 p.m.; April 24, 30, 2 p.m., McDonald Theatre

In addition to the mainstage shows, students will perform weekend cabarets:

  • Sept. 11-12, 7:30 p.m.; Sept. 13, 2 p.m., 7:30 p.m.
  • Dec. 11-12, 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 13, 2 p.m., 7:30 p.m.
  • April 1-2, 7:30 p.m., April 3, 2 p.m., 7:30 p.m.
  • May 6-7, 7:30 p.m., May 8, 2 p.m., 7:30 p.m.

All weekend cabarets will be held in the Studio Theatre.
