Assistant Professor of Modern Language in Spanish

Status

The Department of Modern Languages at Nebraska Wesleyan University seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Spanish to begin August 2022. The Department seeks a generalist with a Ph.D. in Spanish, Second Language Acquisition, or related field, prepared to teach all levels of undergraduate Spanish, who will contribute an innovative and interdisciplinary approach to curriculum design and is committed to excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a broad range of courses in language, culture, and the liberal arts. We are very interested in candidates who will contribute to the diversity of experience of our campus community.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching load of 12 credits per semester.
  • Willingness to teach a variety of courses and levels.
  • Willingness to coordinate first-year language courses.
  • Ability to foster and sustain a diverse and inclusive learning and working environment.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Spanish, Second Language Acquisition, or related field at time of appointment is preferred.
  • Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty and students is essential.
  • Commitment to undergraduate teaching and student-centered learning.
  • Undergraduate teaching experience preferred.

Final rank upon hire will be determined by the Provost commensurate with experience and education.
