Background: 

Scott Ballinger enters his first year as an assistant coach with the NWU baseball program. Ballinger’s primary coaching responsibilities will be working with the outfielders and assisting Coach Honnor with the pitching staff.

Ballinger has provided more than 10 years of coaching service in the Lincoln community, including Babe Ruth Baseball and American Legion Baseball. Most recently, he was the varsity assistant coach for the Lincoln East H.S. baseball program from 2006-10.

Ballinger is a product of the Wakefield American Legion baseball program. After High School, he pitched for Des Moines Area Community College from 1994-95. He completed his collegiate career at Wayne State College in 1996-97. At Wayne State he primarily played in the outfield and at first base.

Ballinger, a native of Pender, Neb., currently teaches World Studies and Math at Mickle Middle School in Lincoln. He and his wife Kathy have three boys, Jarrett (6), Parker (3) and Camden (six months).
