Mike Lynch took over the reigns of the Nebraska Wesleyan University men’s and women’s soccer programs in 2009 with a mission to build a premier program focused on graduating leaders of character, dominating the conference and participating in the postseason national tournament. In his first two years, Lynch guided the men’s team to a record of 13-17-5 and the women’s team to a mark of 14-16-5 bringing his overall career head coaching record to 56-57-13.
A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), Lynch was a four-time All-Conference player, two-time All-Region player, two-time MVP and team captain. His college coaching career began when he returned to his alma mater in 1989 as assistant varsity soccer coach.
After his stint at USAFA, Lynch coached Truman State University to a No. 11 national ranking and the NCAA Tournament in his second year for which he was named the Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year. The following year, the Bulldogs won the MIAA conference giving him MIAA Coach of the Year recognition.
He earned the US Soccer Federation National “A” Coaching license in 1992 and the NSCAA “Premier” Diploma and US Soccer Federation National “Youth” Coaching license in 2010. Lynch has served on the ODP staffs of Ohio, Missouri, and Nebraska. He has coached club soccer teams in Ohio, Colorado, and Nebraska, including the 1997 Colorado U-18 girls and 2010 Nebraska U-13 boys state championships.
Lynch holds a MS in Administration from Central Michigan University and served eight years on active duty as an Officer in the United States Air Force. From 1995-2009, Lynch worked as a corporate trainer and manager in the healthcare industry. In addition to his work at NWU, Lynch also serves as a consultant, facilitator and clinician for WINning Coaching LLC specializing in leadership/management development, strengths based performance coaching, virtue in sport, and soccer camps/clinics.
