Faculty/Staff profile
A former journalist with more than 15 years experience, I specialize in public relations, media relations, issues management, crisis communication, and strategic and integrated marketing communications.
I teach the public relations course in which we learn public relations planning, PR theory, strategies and tactics in public relations.
With a news-editorial degree in journalism I have experience as a reporter, copy editor and managing editor at several Nebraska newspapers including the Beatrice Daily Sun, York News-Times, Kearney Hub, and The Lincoln Star; and I have more than 10 years experience in public relations as a practitioner and media relations/news office manager. I have a master's degree in marketing, communication and advertising and I have particular interest in using social media and new media technologies to develop relationships with specific audiences, and in national media strategies.
Bachelor of Journalism, news-editorial, University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Master of Arts in College of Journalism; interdisciplinary emphasis in Marketing, Communication and Advertising, University of Nebraska-Lincoln
I enjoy using current events and today's news to relate public relations principles and analyze audience response and media/editorial news judgment and decisionmaking. I focus on communication planning and strategy - big ideas - and let tactics follow.
