Sororities and Fraternities
All of our chapter houses are alcohol free and there are a number of alumni, faculty and staff who oversee the daily functions of the chapter. We are proactive in educating members about issues such as alcohol abuse, hazing and mental health.
Following is a list of NWU-approved fraternities and sororities.
Phi Kappa Tau
Upsilon Chapter, National fraternity
Purpose: To champion a lifelong commitment to brotherhood, learning, ethical leadership and exemplary character.
NWU chapter founded: 1923-2005, 2011-present
Chapter accomplishment: Achieved a 3.49 grade point average, the highest term GPA out of all the fraternities for fall 2011.
Omega Alpha Chi
Local Christian fraternity
Purpose: To provide the men of Nebraska Wesleyan University with genuine Christian fellowship embodied by the Fruit of the Spirit, in order to develop lifelong servant leaders. We currently own the highest fraternity GPA on campus, above the all-men’s GPA.
NWU chapter founded: 1995
Chapter accomplishment: Omega Alpha Chi held the successful philanthropy, “Halloween for Huntington,” where donations subsidized the cost of Christmas presents for parents of children who attend Huntington Elementary School.
Gamma Phi Chapter, International fraternity
Purpose: “To Extend the Helping Hand.” Brothers uphold our motto by frequently volunteering on campus and throughout the community.
NWU chapter founded: 1949
Chapter fact: Theta Chi is in the process of growing its chapter’s Parent’s Board, which works with the chapter members and attends dinners to make their fraternity family larger.
Omicron Chapter, International fraternity
Purpose: We aim to “…turn out into the world self-respecting, original-thinking, self-controlled, purposeful gentlemen.”
NWU chapter founded: 1958
Chapter accomplishments: Our charity events include a canned food drive, Rock-a-thon, Patty-Zach Pancake Feed and Relay for Life.
Alpha Gamma Delta
Beta Alpha Chapter, International sorority
Purpose: Inspire the Woman. Impact the World.
NWU chapter founded: 1927
Chapter accomplishments: The annual December chili feed supports a different charity each year, including Mourning Hope and Teammates. Our Teeter Totter Marathon supports juvenile diabetes research. Greenstock, an outdoor concert and barbecue, supports the Boys and Girls Club of America. And, Relay for Life supports cancer survivors and treatment. Awarded with Alpha Gamma Delta’s International Award for Fraternal Values, an award given out to only one chapter a year.
Beta Tau Chapter, International sorority
Purpose: To make life fuller; more meaningful, more rewarding
NWU chapter founded: 1941
Chapter accomplishments: Delta Zeta events, including the Turtle Tug, spaghetti feed, Watermelon Bash and Taco Tuesday support national philanthropies including the Starkey Hearing Foundation and the Painted Turtle Camp, a full service hospital for terminally ill children. Other philanthropies include the Make-a-Wish Foundation, foundations for pancreatic cancer research, and Families for Early Autism Treatment. Awarded with the Outstanding Philanthropy Program for the Midwest region of Delta Zeta chapters.
Purpose: We strive to obtain the qualities of love, generosity, and integrity, while aiming to achieve intellectual development. Thus, we endeavor to nurture unique individuality of each member in order to strengthen the fellowship of our sole chapter.

Chapter fact: One out of every three members of Willard is involved with NWU athletics.
