Know the Lotto: NWU’s Housing Lottery System

Nebraska Wesleyan’s housing lottery and selection process begins soon. Here are the things students and parents need to know.

Housing Policy
All traditional undergraduates must reside in approved on-campus living units for three years. Students in their third through sixth semesters who are members of sororities or fraternities may live in Greek chapter houses.

Students may apply for exemption to the residency policy if they:

  • Live with parents or guardians within 30 miles of campus;
  • Are 21 prior to the fall semester;
  • Live with a spouse;
  • Are enrolled for fewer than 12 credit hours;
  • Have dependent children.

Residency waiver applications are due by March 26.

Students’ housing options vary depending on the year of school they are entering.

  • Select singles in Centennial, Johnson or Burt North halls
  • Select doubles in Centennial or Burt North halls

Juniors-to-be may apply to live in:

The Lottery

  1. All students planning to sign up for housing in the suites, townhouses, apartments or Centennial, Johnson or Burt North halls must submit a housing request form to the Housing Office before 5 p.m. on March 26. (Students wishing to apply for housing accommodations due to ADA considerations should do so in collaboration with Sandra McBride (465.2346) by March 26.) Students draw lottery numbers in the Housing Office when they return request forms.
  2. Housing request forms are ranked based on semesters lived on campus and lottery number. The week of April 5, students will be notified of their designated date and time to select housing.
  3. Students sign housing contracts at the time of housing selection. All students must sign a housing contract by April 19 to avoid cancellation.
  4. Students who do not receive their first choice housing option may be placed on a waiting list after they have selected housing for the academic year and prior to May 16.

Questions
Students and parents may contact the Housing Office at 465.2161 or e-mail Robyn Drake at rdrake1@nebrwesleyan.edu with additional questions.
