Elder Gallery Exhibit Features Artist Inspired by Her Firefighter Experiences

Nebraska Wesleyan’s Elder Gallery will showcase an exhibition of drawings by former firefighter Marlene Mueller.

The exhibit, Drawing Fire, opens Friday, October 4 and continues through Sunday, November 10. An opening reception and artist talk will be held Friday, October 4 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in Elder Gallery.

For 13 years, Mueller was an active member of the Wayne volunteer fire department. Now an art professor at Wayne State College, Mueller concentrates on her artwork, which incorporates her experience as a firefighter. Her charcoal and chalk drawings feature a variety of elements of fire. Her work has been displayed in several Nebraska colleges.

Elder Gallery—located inside the Rogers Center for Fine Arts, 50th Street and Huntington Ave.— is open Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday -Sunday, 1-4 p.m. Free admission and parking.
